Heaven knows it's difficult to find a decent bar that's open after 7pm in Monaco, where you can relax and chill out with friends. But things are looking up with the opening of Ni Bar, the stylish new night spot that's part of the Ni Hotel (see our report last week).

At the end of a busy week, Mr MaBoum and I like nothing better than to enjoy a night out in Monaco. On Friday we decided to have our aperitifs at an old favourite that we reported last year was under new management. Au Royalty is on the corner of rue Princesse Caroline in La Condamine, close to the port.

A new 3 star hotel has opened close to the Place d'Armes on rue Grimaldi. The small, boutique style Ni Hotel, with just 17 rooms, also boasts a fitness room and sun terrace with sea view, although we've not seen those yet.

It couldn't be more different from the old, traditional Hotel Helvetia, which it replaces. The decor in the lobby has a slightly psychedelic, neon, 60s / 70s theme.
