At the end of a busy week, Mr MaBoum and I like nothing better than to enjoy a night out in Monaco. On Friday we decided to have our aperitifs at an old favourite that we reported last year was under new management. Au Royalty is on the corner of rue Princesse Caroline in La Condamine, close to the port.
There's definitely a more up-market feel than there used to be, but thankfully it's not gone over the
top, and has lost none of its charm. The service is friendly, the welcome warm, and we also discovered that they're now serving food in the evening.
Being Friday, and being Brits, we just needed a beer, although others were more refined, sipping champagne or wine. Every table was offered a plate of nibbles, bite-sized squares of pissaladiere and focaccia. Tasty beer accompaniments and an excellent start to the evening!
There was a truly relaxing and unpretentious atmosphere Au Royalty, perfect for an end of week, chatty drink with friends. We'll certainly be going back soon.
