Day out in the snow.
The British Association of Monaco (BAM) is planning a trip to the mountains on Sunday 16th February, using public transport.
Travellers board the train from Monaco to Nice, where they'll change onto the Train des Neiges at 9:15, heading into the Mediterranean Alps. During the journey, an English speaking guide from Nice Tourist Office provides information about the villages and surrounding countryside. At Saint Dalmas de Tende, passengers and guide change again, onto a bus that climbs to the mountain village of Val Casterino, on the edge of the Mercantour National Park, and above the snow line. A warming cup of hot chocolate is served on arrival at 11:30, and then day-trippers have an hour or so to look around. Lunch is served at 13:00, then there's more free time to explore the valley, take a walk, watch mushers with their huskies, try cross country skiing or snow shoe walking.
The bus returns to Saint Dalmas at 16:30 for the return train to Nice, arriving around 18:45.
Prices:
- BAM members 48 euros
- non-members 58 euros
