Literary and music prizes announced

Winners are announced of the Fondation Prince Pierre Prix Litteraire and Bourse de la Decouverte (for nominees see our story A Marathon Read). In addition, prizes are awarded for the Meilleure Critique Litteraire (best literary critique), Coup de Cœur des Lyceens (students' favourite) and Coup de Cœur des Jeunes Musiciens (young musicians' favourite).

Meilleure Critique Litteraire

Following Fondation Prince Pierre's Marathon Read, those who read the nominated books wrote literary critiques. The 2 best commentaries win a book voucher and are invited to attend the award evening.

Coup de Coeur des Lyceens

Created in 2007 in collaboration with the Direction de l'Education Nationale, de la Jeunesse et des Sports, this prize is awarded by secondary school children in the Principality to one of a selection of nominated books:

  • Helene Gestern, Eux Sur La Photo, (Arlea, Aug 2011)
  • Caroline Lunoir, La Faute De Gout, (Actes Sud, Aug 2011)
  • William Memlouk, Mingus Mood, (Julliard, Aug 2011)
  • Fanny Saintenoy, Juste Avant, (Flammarion, Aug 2011)
  • Sophie Schulze, Allee 7, Rangee 38, (Leo Scheer, Aug 2011)

Coup de Cœur des Jeunes Musiciens

First awarded in 2011, the 6000 euros prize rewards a recent musical work from a list proposed by the Conseil Musical, and is chosen by students of the Academie de Musique et de Theatre Prince Rainier III de Monaco. The winner is invited to be in residence at the Academie. Works pre-selected for 2012 are:

  • Concerto pour hautbois solo et orchestre (2010) by Marc-Andre Dalbavie
  • Wild card (2010) by Tansy Davies
  • Funerailles (2010) by Saed Haddad
  • D'Om le vrai sens (2010) by Kaija Saariaho

In conjunction with the awards, the Fondation is organizing a literary tea on 26th September to discuss the books chosen by the jury. Also, readers will have the opportunity to meet authors participating in the Bourse de la Decouverte on 1st October.
