Art exhibition
From June to 25th November, a collection of major works by Van Dongen. Located on the ground floor of Villa Sauber, Kees Van Dongen's L'Atelier (workshop) provides an intimate viewing of the artist's work as opposed to recent large retrospective exhibitions.
Also currently on show on the first floor, you can view the ongoing restoration of a large painting by Jean-Baptiste Olive. The oil on canvas is a panoramic view from Larvotto painted shortly after the land was reclaimed from the sea. It was created for the Pavillon de Monaco at the Paris Universal Exhibition in 1900. After the exhibition, it was hung in the hall of the Sporting d'Ete and removed during the reconstruction of the Monte Carlo Sporting Club in 1999. Having been cut into 13 pieces, it has remained hidden in storage until now. The restored work should be ready for inclusion in an exhibition on architecture planned for 2013 at the NMNM.
