Exhibition of sculpture

First exhibition at new art gallery shows the work of Brazilian Marcos Marin and of Christian Maas.

  • private viewing by invitation only, 17 May
  • followed by exhibition open to public

Christian Maas was born in France and has exhibited his work in New York and London. He often uses his huge sculptures to raise awareness of social and environmental issues. One of his sculptures, La Formule 1, can be seen at the Portier roundabout in Monaco. His new sculpture of Kate Moss will be shown in the gallery in June.

Marcos Marin, born in Brazil, initially set out on a career as a pianist, but became passionate about painting. His portrait of Princess Grace hangs in the Nouveau Musee de Monaco. The artist now works and lives in Monaco.

The exhibition also includes several paintings by Lynette Wittstock, mother of Princess Charlene. Money raised by sales of Mrs Wittstock's work is to support the Princess Charlene's Foundation, created in December 2011.

Reis and Maas Gallery is a joint project of Brazilian dancer/choreographer Ramon Reis and sculptor Christian Maas. In collaboration with the Brazilian Honorary Consulate in Monaco, they've opened a new art gallery promoting cultural exchange between Monaco, Europe and Brazil.
