The Gran Turismo solar powered car stops off in Monaco during its world tour. Schedule:
- 11:30, meeting with Prince Albert II at the Princes' Palace
- 13:00, circuit of the the Grand Prix track
Grand Turismo's world tour is a project of the University of Bochum in Germany, with the aims of entering the Guinness Book of Records and promoting German engineering. The car weighs 250kg, has two batteries that can each provide energy for 450 km, and has solar panels on the roof. It began its tour from Australia in November 2011, crossed New Zealand, the USA, and has now arrived in Europe.
The project is supported by SolarWorld, German photovoltaic cell manufacturer.
