Swinging London, Swinging Rose theme
Princess Caroline, President of the Fondation Princesse Grace, which benefits from the evening, has chosen this year's Bal de la Rose theme as Swinging London in the 1960s.
The term Swinging London was coined by Time Magazine in a 1966 article which described the English capital as a swinging city. London became the capital of cool in terms of fashion, music, culture and cinema. Mary Quant invented the mini skirt, the charts were dominated by British bands, crowds flocked to Carnaby Street and Twiggy was the top model. The Rose Ball will reflect the culture of London in the swinging 60s, with a new generation of London talent on stage.
