10th edition of classical show and regatta

From 14th to 18th September, 80 boats are expected to attend Monaco Classic Week - La Belle Classe, moored along the south side of Port Hercule. Launched in 1994, Monaco Yacht Club's Classic Week aims to bring together craft from the golden age of yachting. 2011 visiting grande dames include:

  • 38m gaff cutter Mariquita, built 1911
  • 15m IR Hispania, built 1908, belonged to King Alphonse XIII of Spain, sister-ship to Tuiga
  • fleet of Chris Craft heritage-inspired motorboats

Around 15 vintage cars from the first Classic Lancia Torino to Monaco are on show at the foot of the boats' gangways.

Program includes:

  • regularity and manoeuvrability trials, timed by Hublot
  • prize for most elegant crew
  • chefs' competition
  • La Belle Classe evening
  • Nuit du Yachting at the Oceanographic Museum
  • Personnalite de la Mer prize
