80th Monte Carlo Automobile Rally.
Opening date for entries was 17th October 2011, closing date 22nd December.
From 17th to 22nd January, with drivers and cars in Monaco on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. After 3 years with the Intercontinental Rally Championship (IRC), the Monte Carlo Rally returns to the stable of the World Rally Championship (WRC). Monaco's Automobile Club moved the Rally to the IRC in 2008, finding FIA rules too restrictive. With its return to the WRC, the Monte Carlo Rally course retains its reputation as a tough, exciting winter road trial and is longer than it has been for 15 years:
- 5 days
- 17 tests
- 433 km against the clock
- 1246 km liaisons
89 cars are taking part, including Citroen with Sebastien Loeb and Mikko Hirvonen, and Ford with Jari-Matti Latvala and Petter Solberg.
