Day off to celebrate the marriage of Prince Albert and Charlene Wittstock
Organizers expect 50,000 spectators, so there are extra trains running until 3am. More buses are also expected to be scheduled, and there's to be free parking. Restaurants and shops remain open in spite of the two day public holiday.
Friday 1st July schedule:
- 16:00, Place du Palais open to Monegasques to watch the ceremony relayed on giant screens. Invitations to be sent out in 2nd half of April
- 17:00, civil marriage of Prince Albert II and Charlene Wittstock in the Palace throne room
- 17:50, the Prince and his new bride greet the crowds from the balcony of the Salle des Glaces
- 18:00, cocktail offered to Monegasque spectators, with Mediterranean and South African buffet food
mayor Georges Marsan delivers the Monegasques' gift, a work of art - 20:00, all residents invited to a reception at Port Hercule
- 22:00 to 24:30, "son et lumiere" show by Jean Michel Jarre, Port Hercule, free access to public
