Annual fete nationale

Introduced for the first time in 1857 during the reign of Prince Charles III, Monaco's Fete Nationale originally fell on the saint's day of the reigning prince. In 2005 Prince Albert II decided to keep the date his father celebrated, Saint Rainier's Day, 19th November.

Official events start at 10:00 with a Te Deum Mass in the cathedral. After this, medals and honours are presented to members of the police and palace guards by Prince Albert, who then celebrates with his family and Monegasques in the Place du Palais.

As usual, the Mairie has organized a number of free events to mark Monaco's National Holiday. For 2011, Monegasques can collect tickets on 3rd and 4th November from the Mairie, for the following events:
