14th edition of rally for historic cars
From 26th January to 2nd February, organized by the Automobile Club of Monaco. Competitors choose 1 of 5 starting points which have a historical significance for the Monte Carlo Rally:
- Marrakech in Morocco
- Warsaw in Poland
- Glasgow in Scotland
- Reims in France
- Barcelona in Spain
Drivers race against the clock, making their way towards the Principality. The first common stage takes place in the hills between the Cols de Braus and de Castillon, and all cars will be in Monaco for the start of the final circuit on 1st Feb.
First run in 1911, the Monte Carlo Rally is the oldest organized car rally in the world, developed to bring tourists to Monaco and promote the region's popularity as a winter destination. Initially, just 26 competitors took part, but the following year the number had increased four-fold. In this centenary year, 328 teams are taking part, representing 24 nationalities and 42 brands of car.
