Monaco's second saint's day
Celebrated for around 150 years, celebrations start on the last Saturday of July with a bowl of pistou soup in the Saint Martin Gardens, followed by a fish soup on the first Friday of August. On the saint's day, there's a dawn serenade by members of the Saint Roman Society, a distribution of rosettes, and a procession to the cathedral for a religious service. Afterwards, officials and guests take a tour around the Rocher on the little tourist train, accompanied by music and songs. Arriving at the Saint Martin Gardens, President of the Saint Roman Society gives a closing speech, followed by the Monaco national anthem sung in Monegasque language, and an aperitif offered by the Mayor.
