Annual day to raise awareness of gender-based violence
The United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women has been observed annually on 25 November since 1981. It is marked in Monaco by several organisations.

Following the UN General Assembly adoption in 1993 of the Declaration on the Elimination of Violence against Women the 25 November day was officially designated in 2000 to encourage joint action and public awareness.
