20 November marks the day in 1959 on which the United Nations Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child, and in 1989 the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Universal Children's Day (Journee des droits de l'enfant) is marked in Monaco by raising awareness among the Principality's school children about the plight of their peers around the world and their fundamental rights.
