Summer school session 1

A morning lecture and discussion by Tina Waldeier Bizzarro, followed by a collaborative workshop in the afternoon led by Susan Kelly Vonmedicus. Part of the American Ireland Fund Summer School on the History of Irish Book Illumination of the Golden Age.

  • 11:00-12:00, traditional early medieval illuminated books in the western tradition and the counter-development, in Ireland, of a different page format, as well as non-narrative, decorative tradition
  • 13:30-16:30, Lettering a Latin Psalm, students make a page of a psalm in Latin in the style of the Cathach of Saint Columba

The session is free of charge, however only 10 places are available, so reservation is necessary. No previous experience or artistic talent is necessary for the artistic workshops.
