New FIA Championship
2016 event: the first European race of the 2nd season of the Formula E championship takes place in Paris, 23 April 2016, with a circuit around the Invalides. Monaco is not hosting a race in 2016.
Formula E showcases electric racing cars, with the aim of boosting the electric vehicle market and promoting sustainable transport.

Each team consists of two drivers, vehicles are single-seaters with speeds in excess of 225 km/h. The 1.76 km circuit follows most of the Grand Prix track.

- 8:15-11:15, non-qualifying practices
- 12:00-13:30, qualifying practices
- 14:40-14:55, track parade
- 16:00, Monaco ePrix, duration 1h
- 17:00, podium ceremony

The first race of the championship took place in Beijing in September 2014, and a further 9 are planned in cities around the world. Monaco hosts the eighth race in the series.
