Weekend promoting transport alternatives to motor vehicles
From 16th to 22nd September, Monaco supports the 12th European Mobility Week, aiming to encourage everyone to Bougez Autrement (use eco-friendly transport) in Monaco. From Friday to Sunday, activities, workshops and entertainment at Larvotto Beach Esplanade and Rose des Vents include electric vehicle test drives and live broadcast by Radio Monaco:
- Fri 19-Sun 21 Sep, 11:00-19:00, at Rose des Vents, Fete de la Mobilite
- Sat 20 Sep, all day, Public Transport Day, free bus travel
- Sat 20-Sun 21 Sep, transport themed educational games for children, a cycle ride around Monaco and a picnic, organized by Institut Mediterraneen d'Etudes et de Developpement Durable (IMEDD)
- Sun 21 Sep
10:00-18:00, cycling Sunday, avenue Princesse Grace partly closed to motor vehicles
14:00, acrobatic cycle display
In addition, there are proficiency tests on specially designed courses for 5-12 year olds who bring their own bike or trottinette.
An initiative of the Direction de l'Environnement (environnement[at]gouv.mc), European Mobility Week aims to raise awareness and encourage use of alternative methods of transport in order to reduce urban pollution and to improve the quality of city life in general. Organized in partnership with the Club des Vehicules Electriques, Monaco Developpement Durable (MC2D) and the Mairie de Monaco.
