6th edition of international competition

From 11th to 14th June, a competition for singers who are finalists of other international competitions. Taking place place every 3 years, the event alternates with the Monte Carlo Piano Masters and the Monte Carlo Violin Masters. The winner of the Prix Prince Rainier III is awarded 30,000 euros.

Program overview

Venues and ticket prices to be confirmed. Quarter and semi finals usually take place in the Auditorium Rainier III, with free entry to the quarter finals, and tickets available for the semi finals. The final normally takes place in the Salle Garnier, with a range of ticket prices, and the finalists are supported by the Monte Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra.

  • Wed 11 Jun, all day, selection of quarter finalists, who must interpret their own choice of two songs and two opera arias
  • Thu 12 Jun, from 13:00, selection of semi finalists, who must interpret their own choice of two songs and four opera arias (different than those sung the day before)
  • Sat 14 Jun, 19:45, finalists interpret two arias chosen by the jury from those already sung, and three arias from a selected list

Korean tenor Junghoon Kim pocketed the Monte Carlo Voice Masters Prix Prince Rainier III worth 30,000 euros yesterday. The 26 years old competed against Canadian soprano Jessica Muirhead, both singing arias alternately, and ending the evening with a duet from La Traviata. They were accompanied by the Monte Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Antonello Allemandi.
