Sports and education event for children
Marking the first International Day of Sport for Development and Peace (Journee Internationale du Sport au service du Developpement et de la Paix), the Rallye Princesse Charlene de Monaco involves around 400 Monaco school children in two sporting trials and one intellectual trial, both focusing on the shared values of education and sport. In parallel, representatives of Peace and Sport are attending to raise awareness among students of the use of sport for development and peace. Sporting Peace Champions (Champions de la Paix) are also sharing their experiences, including athlete Paula Radcliffe, diver Pierre Frolla, skier Pernilla Wiberg, tennis player Thomas Johannson and badminton player Kaveh Mehrabi.
At the end of the morning, Government ministers and representatives of the Princess Charlene Foundation and Peace and Sport, award cups and medals to winners and those who have shown the shared values of education and sport.
School children from Colleges Charles III and Francois d'Assise-Nicolas Barre, and the Lycee Technique et Hotelier de Monaco are taking part.
