Prize winning art
From 22nd to 29th September, Dora Garcia's The Joycean Society is an art project based around a reading group's exploration of Finnegans Wake by James Joyce. The film was realized with money awarded to the artist on winning The Prix International d'Art Contemporain (PIAC).
Awarded every 3 years by Fondation Prince Pierre, the winner of the PIAC receives 40,000 euros, half of which allows the artist to produce a new work. Dora Garcia was awarded the 45th PIAC for her work The Deviant Majority (2010). The prize is officially presented during the Fondation Prince Pierre Awards Gala on 1st October.
