Celebrations marking SBM's 150th anniversary
On 5th and 6th July, several events to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Monte Carlo SBM.
5 July
At Place du Casino:
- Installation of a garden designed by landscape architect Jean Mus, where a Diner Sur l'Herbe (dinner on the lawn) created by Alain Ducasse and SBM chefs is being held. The dinner reflects Manet's painting Dejeuner Sur l'Herbe, which was painted in the same year as Societe des Bains de Mer was founded
At Salle Garnier (Opera House):
- Special concert during the evening, with the Monte Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra, pianist Lang Lang, Dame Shirley Bassey and jazz/pop pianist Jamie Cullum
6 July
At Sporting d'Hiver:
- Launch of a Fernando and Humberto Campana exhibition that lasts until 20th July
At Sporting d'Ete's Salle des Etoiles:
- In the evening Rod Stewart opens Monte Carlo Sporting Summer Festival 2013
All Weekend
On the casino terraces, throughout summer:
- A musical installation by Michel Redolfi on the theme When The Opera Becomes A Garden, with sound-emitting armchairs
- First screening of the film Monte Carlo Fait Son Cinema, specially commissioned for the occasion. The movie contains extracts of movies filmed in Monaco, featuring Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, Pierce Brosnan, and many more. Directed by students of the cinema school Factory (Lyon), and with the participation of the Audiovisual Archives of Monaco, the film is a pastiche of clips in the style of Christian Marclay's The Clock
