15th World Festival of Amateur Theatre
From 19th to 28th August, the Mondial du Theatre, or the World Festival of Amateur Theatre. Performances, workshops and symposia, free of charge and open to the public.
The Mondial du Theatre has taken place every 4 years since 1957. It gathers together amateur theatre groups from 24 countries, performing shows in their national language. Performances take place in the Princess Grace Theatre, the Salle Garnier, and the Theatre des Varietes, and the festival village is open daily in Rainier III Auditorium. Program overview:
- each morning, 10:00-12:30
symposia, in which the 3 groups who performed the previous evening, talk about themselves and theatre practices in their own country. - each afternoon, 14:30-17:00
themed workshops. - each evening, 18:00-22:00
performances by 3 amateur theatre groups.
