Monte Carlo Film Festival

9th edition of the comedy film festival starts tomorrow.

From 24th to 28th November the Grimaldi Forum's Salle des Princes will be ringing with laughter. Eight films from around the world have been entered into the festival competition, three of which are English language (see our listing below). As a special treat for George Clooney fans, there's also an out of competition showing of Up in the Air.

The festival was created in 2001 by Italian actor and TV presenter Ezio Greggio, and father of Italian comedy, Mario Monicelli. It's a well known event in Italy and becoming more recognized in France. With the increase in international entries this year, its reputation should spread a little further.

In 2008, the prize for best comedy was awarded to French film LOL. This year, the jury's Italian president, Christian de Sica is joined by France's Valerie Mairesse and Delphine Chaneac, Russian acress Elena Bouryka and Italian Massimo Ghini.

As maBoum's policy is to publish English language events, we've only listed 4 of the films to be shown during the festival. The full program can be found on the Monte Carlo Film Festival website.
