Birthday girl wins Ironman

Christel Robin, 22 years old today, was the first woman to cross the finishing line in this year's Monaco Ironman 70.3.

Born in Nice, she finished the course in about 4 hours 47 minutes, just over half an hour after the winning male athlete, Belgian Axel Zeebroek, who clocked up 4 hours 15 minutes. Quite astounding when you remember that they had to swim 1.2 miles, cycle 56 miles and run 13.1 miles around the F1 circuit.

It's the 5th time Monaco has hosted the triathlon and a record 1300 registered, both professionals and amateurs. There were also relay teams of athletes, one for each discipline, the fastest of which was Ozzy Ozzy Ozzy. Money has been raised for local charities Fight Aids Monaco and the Enfants de Frankie. Well done to all who took part!
