World Oceans Day 2011

Oceanographic Museum hopes to raise awareness of children.

There's a program of activities at the Oceanographic Museum today that puts young people at the heart of the struggle to safeguard the future of the oceans. French language activities revolve around the Tara Oceans research operation and are open to the general public. Discovery and learning are the objectives, in light of the approaching Earth Summit 2012.

Tara Oceans expedition vessel set off on 5th September 2009 from Lorient and returns in September 2012. Its 3 year mission is to evaluate the impact of climate change and human activity on the marine ecosystem. In order to mark World Oceans Day, Monaco's Oceanographic Museum is organizing activities to present the expedition and its research results so far.
