World Diabetes Day

Find out about diabetes today.

Yesterday was World Diabetes Day, and as part of the global campaign, members of Monaco's health services are available today to answer questions about the disease.

In 2000, the World Health Organization (WHO) registered 177 m people worldwide with diabetes, and it estimates figures to rise to 366 m in 2030. The disease is life threatening, and recent WHO calculations indicate that almost 3 m deaths per year are attributable to it.

So, if you'd like to find out more, a team of doctors, nurses and dietitians will be available today from 9:00 to 17:00 in the Fontvieille shopping centre by the pharmacy. Supported by the Direction des Affaires Sociales et de la Sante (DASS), and organized by the Princess Grace Hospital, the experts will measure and interpret your blood sugar levels, answer questions and help you understand diabetes and how to control it.
