11th Princesses' Rally from Paris to Monaco.
If you thought rally driving was a macho thing, think again. Motor sport gets in touch with its feminine side from 30th May to 4th June. Only women drivers are allowed in the 11th Princesses' Rally, although men can take part as co-pilots. The event is a regularity test, where teams navigate a set route within a set time, defined by the age of the vehicle being driven. There are 2 categories of cars:
- historic, pre-war to 1989
- prestige, from 1990 to today
The rally attracts all sorts of women, who take to the country roads of France for 5 day journey, driving between 300 and 350 km per day. Around 60 teams are taking part, setting off from the Place Vendome in Paris on 31st May. They'll pass through the Loire Valley, the Auvergne, the Ardeche, and many other places before reaching Monaco and the winners' podium on Friday 4th June.
