Winning jazz soloists

Last week was Monte Carlo Jazz Festival and the final of the International Jazz Soloists' Competition.

The final of the 12th Jazz Soloists' Competition took place in Moods on the opening night of the Monte Carlo Jazz Festival. Internationally renowned drummer Andre Ceccarelli headed up the jury that also included Henri Doria of the Monaco Mairie, Director of Cultural Affairs Jean-Charles Curau, competition Artistic Director Charly Vaudano, and Michel Crosset, Director of the Prince Rainier III Academy of Music and Theatre.

Prizes were awarded to:

  1. Alex Terrier, saxophone, France
  2. Anne Czichowsky, singer, Germany
  3. Marton Fenyvesi, guitar, Hungary

Winner Alex Terrier was born in Paris and lives in New York. His 2nd album "Roundtrip" was released in October 2009, and we can look forward to a return gig at the 2011 Monte Carlo Jazz Festival.
