Such a fine, sunny day (1)

Another lazy holiday today. Metropole Shopping Gallery is open from 11:00 to 19:00 if you'd like to spend some money.
What's new?
Whoopi Goldberg hosts the ultra-exclusive White Feather Ball tomorrow evening, but you won't find much information about it on maBoum, nor on many other sites. Organizers are inviting a very select group of people to the gala, which is raising money for Julian Lennon's environmental and humanitarian charity. If, like us, you're not going, you can make a donation on the White Feather Foundation website, and there are plenty more exclusive events taking place in Monaco throughout the year.
Film fans have a treat starting tomorrow. The Monaco Charity Film Festival takes place over 5 days, with daily screenings open to the public at the Hermitage Hotel. In the more modern setting of Monte Carlo Bay, the world's best poker players remain straight faced for a few more days at the Poker Stars and Monte Carlo Casino EPT grand final.
News this week about Lorenzo restaurant, which was declared insolvent last year. The 7 avenue Princess Grace property lease has been taken on by a company called The Three Dragons, with the intention of opening an Asian restaurant in which Monaco Restaurant Group and Sass are said to be involved.
What's in the diary...
Thursday: 7-a-side football fundraiser.
Friday: Upside Down Side Effects.
Saturday: Dog show.
Sunday: Great American composers.
Coming up next week, Outward Bound cocktail, the unexpected Wilde, and classical organ music.
For lots more suggestions, visit maBoum's 7 day listing and enjoy your weekend.
(1) This week's quote is the beginning of the last sentence spoken by Sophie Scholl, born this day 1921. Scholl was guillotined in 1943 for taking part in Die Weisse Rose Nazi resistance movement, and the film depicting her final days is a "must see" for anyone who cares about humanity.
