maBoum's weekend guide to events in Monaco.
The tourist season begins this weekend as visitors arrive for the Monte Carlo Rolex Tennis Masters. The semi-final of the football Coupe de France between AS Monaco and Lens should also draw in some out-of-towners. Your invitation to the dance remains open with a collaborative creation inspired by Chekhov's The Seagull, or a performance by the Nijinsky of flamenco. Blues and jazz are on the program at Moods, and local bands Caligagan, IMODIUM, and Highwood take the stage at various bars and clubs around town. The Damien Hirst exhibition attracted 12,000 visitors in its first 3 days, so you might want to wait until the kids are back at school before taking a look yourself. Finally, if the sun puts in an appearance, you can now take a break on the beach in anticipation of summer, as the ground has been evened out and the loungers and parasols have been dusted off.
