A new dawn, a new day, a new life....

And we're feeling good! So too is Prince Albert, who's giving everyone 2 days' holiday to celebrate his wedding in July. Check the dates on our handy list of all the Principality's public holidays in 2011.

What's new?

It's normally quite calm during the first week of the year, but some businesses are already planning ahead, such as Ni Tapas. The Spanish style restaurant has extended its opening hours so you can now treat yourself to a tapas lunch.

We've also heard that Note Bleue is planning music broadcasts, although no information yet as to the medium to be used. You'll already find the beach jazz bar's channel on YouTube, which we often link to for a taster of local artists' music.

And finally, for frazzled parents, the Fairmont Hotel's hair salon is organizing Kid Kut Kookies every 1st Wednesday of the month. Your under 12s get free treats whilst you receive some pampering, and 20% of the takings are donated to Les Enfants de Frankie.

What's in the diary...

Thursday: Food fit for kings and a King of the Glen fit for food.
Friday: Re-live a fiasco, then a fiesta.
Saturday: A diva, a bullfighter, and a tourist.
Sunday: A little Mozart and Mahler.

Coming up next week, a warm-up exhibition and presentation of the Circus Festival, and the Yanks and the Brits get sociable.
