Frosty wind made moan (1)

Tomorrow is St Nicolas' Day, heralding the festive season, which means it's time to publish the maBoum guide to Christmas in Monaco.

What's new?

It's a newsletter full of festive cheer this week, with an events calendar traveling full steam ahead to Christmas and New Year. There's something to please everyone, music, art, movies and more. Nice based artist Ben has 40 works on display from today until the end of January at the Marlborough Gallery. Film fans have plenty of movies to look forward to in the annual 4-day Angel Film Festival, also starting today, as does the 3-day stamps fair MonacoPhil, a fiesta for philatelists. From tomorrow, kids of all ages can enjoy the Monaco Christmas Village, which opens in the evening at the port, along with fund-raising activities at the Telethon Village.

Finally, two new places opened this week. On Tuesday the private kiddies' club we reported on in our Halloween issue was inaugurated by Princess Charlene as the Monte Carlo Munchkins Club. The Princess also officially opened Monaco Starbucks yesterday, to whoops of delight from many of our readers.

What's in the diary ....

Thursday: A nosy opera and a Marais symphony.
Friday: Carla Bruni concert.
Saturday: Christmas market, concert, and ball.
Sunday: Traditional nativity play.

Coming up next week, Brits' festive lunch, Christmas tree auction, and Maillot's dance party.

For lots more suggestions, visit maBoum's 7 day listing and enjoy your weekend.

(1) This week's quote is the second line of the Christmas carol In The Bleak Midwinter, from a poem written by English poet Christina Rossetti, born this day 1830.
