What's new?
We're pretty much at the end of summer now, with only one week left before the kids go back to school. That means that several events are coming to an end, and you'll have to rush out if you're going to see them. Tomorrow afternoon is your last chance to see the student photography exhibition in the library, but you have until Monday to catch Gavin Turk's exhaust pipe and rusty nail, and Filip Kulisev's Amazing Planet photos.
Restaurants are also starting to clear the tables, although some are determined to enjoy the sunshine until the closed sign goes up. Eden Plage at Mala Beach is holding a closing party on Sunday with entertainment from a gang of musicians, including Caligagan. Before that, Note Bleue's final jazz gig on Saturday night promises to leave you looking forward with anticipation to the cool sounds of summer 2014. In other restaurant news, we hear there's been a change of management at Express Mondial Bar in Condamine and at Events My Way, which is also changing its name to My Way 2.
Finally, there are two private events of note. First, the UEFA 2013-14 competition draws take place today and tomorrow by invitation only in the Grimaldi Forum. And then on Saturday there's a very special celebration at the Palace, as Princess Caroline's son Andrea Casiraghi marries his girlfriend Tatiana Santo Domingo.
What's in the diary...
Thursday: Garden party and vodka cocktails.
Friday: Mbappe, Viccaro, Bill Evans.
Saturday: Brazilian party closes Sea Lounge.
Sunday: Lone Ranger rides again.
Coming up next week, a Day of Legends, a day of Liberation, and some good old networking.

(1) This week's quote names two of the most famous characters played by British actor and director, Richard Attenborough, born this day 1923. Big X, aka Roger Bartlett, was the principal escape organizer in the film The Great Escape, and Pinkie was the psychopathic youth in Brighton Rock.
