Happy Thanksgiving to all our American friends! If you must have your turkey dinner, get down to Stars n Bars, where you can celebrate with MonacoUSA or with your own group of friends.
What's new?
There are galas galore this weekend, starting with the Chaine des Rotisseurs on Friday, Monaco's Anges Gardiens on Saturday, and two performances of Frankie's children's Christmas show. Getting things off to a spirited start, is the first Monte Carlo Whisky Conference, which includes several standalone events over 3 days celebrating and savouring Scotland's "water of life", and culminating in a St David's Day Gala Banquet.
Monaco Matin reported an uncertain future for Monaco's Sporting Cinema this week, which is to relocate temporarily to Princess Grace Theatre in September 2014 with no firm plans after this date. The same article announced that Haagen Dazs closes definitively this Sunday, although for us here at maBoum, it's not too much of a loss, as we prefer the delicious home-made ices at Gelateria and Atelier du Glacier. In other food news, we're keeping a watchful eye on the Monaco Room Service home delivery people. Several establishments have joined the scheme, which promises to deliver your favourite restaurant meal in 30 to 40 minutes. Let us know if you've tried it.
All this talk of whisky, ice-cream and delicious meals will no doubt throw a few of you into thinking about giving them up in the New Year. This weekend help is at hand to ensure you stick to your resolutions, with the first session of a 3-day personal development course.
Don't be alarmed if in the next couple of days you're served a condom with your coffee. Your waiter isn't being suggestive, it's just one of a number of promotions and events organized by Fight Aids Monaco to raise public awareness for World AIDS Day on Sunday. And finally, if you're looking for Christmas gift ideas, swing by the Ecumenical Kermesse on Saturday.
