Have you noticed the increase in visitors this week, no doubt enjoying Nice Carnival and Menton Lemon Festival? There'll be a few more kids about too, as school half term holidays start next week.

What's new?

Monaco football fans are celebrating the club's 1-0 victory over Nice last week, which takes them through to the quarter finals of the Coupe de France.  The Reds and Whites face RC Lens on 26th March at home, but for now, players are concentrating on Friday's match against Reims.
On the cultural scene, Monte Carlo Comedy Film Festival continues today and tomorrow with screenings of movies from France, Russia, Italy, Denmark and Germany. Tomorrow is also the first day of a Richard Artschwager retrospective exhibition at Villa Paloma.
Best drink of the day for many Brits, tea is the focus of afternoons at Fairmont Monte Carlo's Saphir24 lobby lounge. Enjoy one of eight refreshing brews from 15:00 to 18:00 Monday to Saturday, from 16:00 on Sunday, and treat yourself to one of chef patissier Claire Verneil's pastries on the side. If you prefer to savour the cup that cheers in the comfort of your own home, think ahead and buy your cake from l'Orange Verte, where the restaurant's chocolate eclairs and lemon meringue tarts are available to take away. Alternatively, for something more social, CREM has a tea drinking workshop this afternoon.
There are two new eateries opening soon. Green Cafe, a snack bar with takeaway and delivery services, is located in the old Monaco Auto showroom on avenue Saint Charles, close to the Maison du Caviar. Another snack bar is opening in the Condamine Market Hall, selling rice based dishes to eat in or take away, no doubt serving customers who will take advantage of the market's late opening hours from mid-March. Finally, it seems that Sem-Art, the restaurant and art gallery beloved of ladies who lunch, is to close.
