Satisfying a public demand (1)

We're looking forward to discovering more about Monaco's development with the launch of the Monacopolis exhibition this week.

What's new?

Two of the Principality's biggest events are happening over the weekend. First, Monte Carlo Rally vrooms into town, although most of the action takes place in the mountains. Then, we welcome the greatest show on earth, 2 weeks of circus shows and related events for adults and children alike. Some kids want to be entertained all year round, and for mini wannabe celebrities, Paparazzi Parties has set up a service to help you parents plan something special.

With snow capping the hills, we're looking for warming food. Zest has just the thing with its Thursday evening Winter Sessions of fondue (16 euros) and raclette (21 euros), when diners are welcomed with a mulled wine aperitif. A different type of warm welcome is offered by Rascasse, providing Apres Ski style relaxation on its heated terrace from 4pm, with live music, finger food and selected drinks at half price.

Finally, we posted our handy list of public holidays, the next of which, Sainte Devote's Day, is coming up soon.

What's in the diary...

Thursday: Junior's happy hour.
Friday: Making music in the library.
Saturday: Miniature Monte Carlo Rally.
Sunday: Sound the trumpet.

Coming up next week, a princely team, a controversial politician, and a magnificent family.

(1) This week's quote paraphrases Chicago gangster Al Capone, born this day 1899. Questioned by the media about his activities, Capone often replied that he was just a businessman, giving the people what they want. "All I do is satisfy a public demand."
