Congratulations to Monaco's football team, which is now guaranteed a promotion to French League division 1 next season.

What's new?

There's lots to interest foodies this week, starting with changes on the restaurant scene in Fontvieille port. Osteria Del Mare is closed, and will re-open as One Apple Concept Bar, the Monaco branch of a Turin based trendy hot spot. Next door, one of two sister establishments, wine bar Le Petit Dark Home, is now serving salads, carpaccios, and aperitif sized dishes, with wines by the glass and live music in the evenings. Round the corner, Asian Dark Home focuses on sushi. Elsewhere, there are changes afoot at Bajres, Pulcinella and Flashman's, and Monaco Restaurant Group plans a September opening for its gastronomic Chinese restaurant (see last week's newsletter).

We have two new places on our list to try. La Bodeguita is a tapas bar tucked away in a corner of Place d'Armes, serving Patanegra ham, and Spanish wines and produce. In the same area, located inside Condamine market hall, is Le Comptoir, with plenty of tables where you can enjoy a lunch of regional fast food such as focaccia, pissaladieres and tourtes. Let us know what you think if you get there before us.

Finally, tomorrow sees the start of Note Bleue's summer jazz festival, whilst Brasserie de Monaco is tapping its special Grand Prix brew.

What's in the diary...

Thursday: Students show off their moves.
Friday: Last home game of the season.
Saturday: Two catwalks - Dior and Mr Europe.
Sunday: Great Gatsby, twice.

Coming up next week, holiday on Monday and F1vs Stars football on Tuesday. Oh, and some sort of motor sport thing.
