Impression, soleil levant (1)

We're expecting security to be high in Monaco today for the official visit of the French President.
What's new?
President Hollande arrives at the Palace around 11am. After lunch he's expected to visit the Venturi workshops in Fontvieille, then the Centre Scientifique at quai Antoine 1er, and finally the Oceanographic Museum, where he and Prince Albert II will sign 5 agreements. There are no plans for the head of state to meet his compatriots who are resident in the Principality.
Around this time of year there are lots of fundraising activities that support children. Saturday sees the start of No Finish LIne, which heralds Universal Children's Day, shortly followed by Red Nose Day and the Telethon. November is also the month that we celebrate Monaco's Fete Nationale, which this year gives us a day's holiday on Tuesday. Note that Cafe de Paris is offering its Monegasque menu again to mark the occasion. Also on the food front, Novotel will be selling coffee and croissants to passers-by from 8am to 9.30am on Tuesday and Wednesday to raise money for Children and Future.
Finally, Before Bar celebrates its 3rd anniversary on Monday, and if you'd like to party with the team and DJ Yan-One, you'll need to wear your smartest, most glamorous outfit.

(1) This week's quote is the title of a painting by Claude Monet, born this day 1840. Depicting sunrise over Le Havre port, the title was coined by an art critic as a derogatory term to describe the Impressionists, but was later appropriated by members of the movement.
