Rihanna plays a second gig at the Sporting tonight. Did you get a ticket?
What's new?
We're looking forward to the Picasso exhibition that starts tomorrow. Around 150 works by the iconic Spanish artist are on show in the Grimaldi Forum throughout summer. Once you've finished admiring the art, stay put for one of five energetic performances of the classic musical West Side Story, featuring tunes by the great Leonard Bernstein.
Strolling around Fontvieille Port last week we discovered a couple of changes. Casa del Gelato has had a makeover and changed its name to Graziella, although the management remains the same. One Apple concept restaurant is now open, serving breakfasts, lunches, aperos and dinners from 8am to 2am. The late opening hours suggest that the area is becoming something of a night spot, with a cluster of lounge bars and restaurants offering live music. On Port Hercule, Stars n Bars is introducing a band night on the StarDeck every Wednesday, and outdoor acoustic entertainment every Thursday. Moving further east, Life Club bar and venue is serving burgers and pizzas, and Avenue 31 has Indonesian food on the menu. Right on the border with France at Roquebrune, there's a new wine bar called Bacchus, where you can sit in and enjoy a glass of wine with a platter of charcuterie. It's also possible to buy a bottle and selection of gourmet food to take away. Let us know what it's like if you get there before us.
Finally, watch out for the route displays in Monegasque on the buses, and beware of the Monte Carlo or Bust old bangers that are expected to be passing through the Principality on Sunday.
