Oh I say (1)

School holidays start tomorrow, and it looks like the warm weather has finally arrived.

What's new?

Monaco's Davis Cup hopes may be over, but tennis is still on the agenda as Monte Carlo Rolex Masters starts this weekend. Football fans will be sad that the end of the 2012-2013 season is in sight, with Monaco FC, playing away to AJ Auxerre on Saturday, but could be celebrating if the club remains at the top of French division 2. Note also that the 2013 Printemps des Arts festival closes this weekend with a concert of Beethoven chamber music.

Following a management change and refurbishment, Au Royalty now has a new name, Bella Vita. There are also changes likely at Zen Zen, which has a new owner. Finally, we were pleased to find McCarthy's pub open again this week. The bar has moved to what used to be the raised seating area, leaving more space for tables, where customers can enjoy food. Menu choices include burgers, and a dish that's now found in many French restaurants, fish and chips. Thankfully, Guinness is still available, and live music is planned every Friday evening, and occasional Saturdays and Thursdays. Tonight, Sherokee plays a gig, and tomorrow Highwood.

What's in the diary...
