Some school children have already returned to classes in the region, but Monaco's official rentree is this coming Monday. Kids will have to wait until 26th October for their next break.
What's new?
We received news about Monaco Restaurant Group's gourmet Chinese restaurant this week. Due to open towards the end of 2013, it's to be called Song Qi, and is a project being managed by Alan Yau. Located on avenue Princesse Grace, the place is likely to resemble Yau's Michelin starred Hakkasan, rather than his canteen creation, Wagamama. Over in Fontvieille Port, the construction work taking shape between Gerhard's and Graziella is rumoured to be a new eatery, described by our reporter as "authentique". Established gastronomic restaurant, the Louis XV, is taking part in Tous au Restaurant, with a 2 for 1 menu priced 145 euros, providing a great opportunity to try Monaco's 3 starred Michelin food.
Those who enjoy Monaco's many bars and clubs are advised to keep ID with them on a night out, after a story in Monaco Matin this week that several establishments are clamping down on under-age drinking. Brasserie de Monaco reportedly has bouncers checking young looking clients, and Life Club, which has an adults only door policy, is being more vigilant.
There's not a lot happening this weekend as people prepare for the rentree. Monaco Open Air Cinema program runs for another week, but September belongs to the sailors, as we look forward to Classic Week and the Yacht Show.
Finally, a cheer for Monaco FC, which beat Marseille 1-2 last week, taking the team to the top of French Ligue 1. The next game is at home against Lorient on 15th September.
