If you were planning to attend Printemps des Arts' Congo evening (see What's in the dairy...), take note that the dance groups that were to perform have been unable to obtain visas.

What's new?

The Monaco Motor Show & Motor Legend starts today, with a procession of classic cars scheduled for Saturday, and a trade fair for vintage car collectors each day over the weekend. More affordable second-hand goods are to be found at the Oeuvre Soeur Marie Kermesse, which is raising money for charity tomorrow and Saturday.

Looking ahead to July and August, the program of open air classical concerts held in the Princes' Palace courtyard has been announced. Also during summer, Monte Carlo SBM is celebrating its 150th anniversary by installing an open air cinema on the Casino terraces. A specially commissioned film will be screened daily, featuring Monaco and Monte Carlo in various scenes from movies.

In the news this week we read that Prince Albert has decided to go ahead with a 5-6 hectares land extension into the sea. Located between Portier and the Grimaldi Forum, the new district is expected to feature low rise buildings and green spaces, generating income for the Principality, and work for the local construction industry.
