I'm still not sure if movies are an art form. (1)

What's new

We're happy to see that Avenue des Beaux Arts has also reopened, to pedestrians only when we visited. This is the street that runs between the Hotel de Paris and the now demolished Sporting d'Hiver. A new Promenade Princesse Charlene weaves between the modern glass towers that have replaced the old Art Deco building. Workers were still hammering and drilling in some of the new premises, and one had stacks of chairs and cushions outside. Many high-end clothes and accessories brands have already taken up residence and so we're looking forward to when Casino Gardens will be rid of their alien pods.

At time of writing, there are just two VO films at the cinema this week: a comedy about fostering called Instant Family, and the controversial winner of this year's Best Picture Oscar, Green Book.

And finally, if you want to do a bit of schmoozing with likeminded epicureans, Club Vivanova is organizing an 8-course dinner next Thursday, with special guest Dominic Milardi of the Monaco Sommelier Association.

What's in the diary ....

Thursday: Cars, cars & more cars.
Friday: Adam & the Madams.
Saturday: Ice-skating championship.
Sunday:  Music by Mozart & Faure.

Coming up next week: comedy film festival, lunch with Jimi Hendrix, and book recycling.

For lots more suggestions, visit maBoum's 7 day listing and enjoy your weekend.
