Hymns and arias (1)

Autumn's here, which makes us think of crunchy red apples, bonfire night and halloween.

What's new?

The change in season has brought about a change in opening hours for Condamine Market Hall, with late afternoon shopping now limited to 3 days a week. As September segues into October, both months with an "r" in them, oysters are once again on the menu. You'll find the mouth-watering molluscs and scrumptious shellfish at Cafe de Paris' Oyster Bar next week, along with other seafood outlets in the Principality.

On the events calendar, Johnny Clegg's public concert has been canceled, although he's still playing a gala gig on Saturday. Looking ahead to next year, Grimaldi Forum has plans for a Picasso exhibition in 2013. More details shortly.

What's in the diary...

Thursday: BAM happy hour, Philip Glass concert
Friday: Exhibitions of photographs, portraits and sculptures
Saturday: Gala entree to African gastronomy week
Sunday: Basket ball buffoonery with Harlem Globetrotters

Coming up next week, GemlucArt opens, opportunities to manage talent and slaves, and a picture perfect pink Principality.

(1) This week's quote is the title of a song by Welsh comedian, singer and entertainer, Max Boyce, born this day 1945. The words of the chorus are often sung on the terraces at Welsh rugby matches.
