Prince Albert II  was in the news this week, as he was offered the key to San Francisco, where he was attending the World Ocean Summit.

What's new?

Michelin Red Guide awarded Italian chef Paolo Sari a star for Elsa, the 100% organic restaurant at SBM's Monte Carlo Beach, where he's been head of the kitchens for 2 years. You'll have to wait until next Thursday 6th March to try the food, when the hotel, spa, and restaurant open for the season. The Principality's other Michelin rated restaurants, Louis XV, Joel Robuchon, Vistamar, and Yoshi, retain their stars.
A Bistrot Latino has opened in the premises vacated by Cave de Max. We've not tried it yet, but it's offering Mediterranean cuisine, fresh fish, truffles and foie gras. There's a happy hour from 6pm every evening Monday to Saturday, with a 2 for 1 deal, price 10 euros for a board of charcuterie and glass of wine. Phone +377 97 97 57 44 for more information and let us know what you think if you get there before us.
This weekend is all about galas and elegance. On Saturday evening, power boat racers are celebrating at the UIM World Champions Gala in the Salle des Etoiles, whilst Welsh expats gather for their annual St David's Day celebrations in the Salle Empire, where we expect the Treorchy Male Choir to raise some musical memories of the "other" Principality. Looking ahead, we were contacted this week with news of the forthcoming 10th anniversary gala of The Climate Group, which is to take place in Monaco next month.
Finally, elegance and classic cars come together over three days during the Monaco Motor Show and Legend, which takes place at Port Hercule. Look out for the vintage automobile procession on Saturday afternoon and the Elegance Competition on Sunday.
