What's new?
This week the Government announced that from 25th September, registered disabled residents can travel free of charge on Monaco buses. A letter is to be sent to those affected. Of wider public interest is the Principality's move from 3G to 4G mobile communication. The new technology should be fully functional from today, but you'll probably need to buy a new phone to take advantage of it.
Our food and drink radar has picked up two new establishments. Starbucks branded hoardings have been attached to the coffee shop's soon-to-open premises on avenue Prince Pierre, over the road from the Lycee Hotelier. Further down the street, on the corner of rue Grimaldi, is a new ice-cream parlour, one of the Louise Les Glaces franchises.
This evening Monte Carlo Ballets and Fight Aids Monaco are supporting a debate and screening of two films. Dealing with the issue of sexuality, the event is a precursor to the ZE Festival of lesbian, gay, bi and transgender films, which takes place in the PACA region from Friday. And finally, in Cap d'Ail, Love Art, a 3-day event, starts on Saturday, mixing art and partying, Scandinavian style.
What's in the diary...
Thursday: New venue for Brits' happy hour.
Friday: French prog rock concert.
Saturday: Oktoberfest begins, first barrel tapped.
Sunday: Speaking Drums.
Coming up next week, Prince Albert rewards environmental work, and Prince Pierre rewards the arts.
