Congratulations to Sebastien Loeb and Daniel Elena who drove their Citroen to victory in the Monte Carlo Rally last week.

What's new?

Two restaurants in Condamine are currently closed for work, Maciota, which serves traditional dishes, and Au Royalty, which changed management in summer. On a recent visit to the district, we noticed that Mystic Cafe and Shangri La were also in darkness, possibly taking a break during the quiet season. There are plenty of other places to dine, but to avoid disappointment, it's a good idea to phone ahead at this time of year.

Over in Fontvieille, a snack bar with delivery service is to open shortly, possibly with North African or Asian food. The property vacated by McCarthy's is to be operated by a company called The Seven, providing food, drink and music, so no change there. We hear that the new manager was previously involved in running a restaurant in Saint Laurent du Var. Whilst awaiting the transformation, those of you who're missing your Guinness should get along to Slammer's, and for a game of darts, try Cremaillere.

As Loeb polishes his trophy, Historic Monte Carlo Rally drivers set off from 4 corners of Europe this weekend, heading for the Principality. If you've not been to the circus yet, better hurry, as the final shows take place on Sunday. And finally, for cinema buffs, the Academie Rainier III is organizing a film course for students over the next few weeks, and this evening, there's a talk about the man who helped establish the movie industry on the Cote d'Azur.

What's in the diary...

Thursday: Brit & international networking.
Friday: Traviata gala.
Saturday: Scots, Australians & Monegasques party.
Sunday: New organ concert.

Coming up next week, church chamber music and Monaco bosses' bash.
