What's new
Let's get the Covid stuff out of the way first. Yesterday the government announced new measures to contain the virus, coming into effect tomorrow. 1) Attendance at major events is limited to 1000. 2) Takeaway sales of alcohol are prohibited from 20:00 to 6:00, and remember, drinking booze in public places is prohibited too. 3) No school trips. In addition we're all to receive another mail-out of masks.
Sadly, more events have been cancelled, amongst them the autumn funfair at Port Hercule, the No Finish Line charity run, and the pre-Christmas gastronomy fair.
Be that as it may, AS Monaco Basket played its first game of the season yesterday. The team is carrying out PCR tests on players three days before matches, and spectator numbers will be limited by leaving one in two seats empty.
Princess Grace Irish Library has reopened but you can only visit by appointment Monday to Friday. Phone +377 93 50 12 25 and don't forget your face mask.
And finally, the highlight of this week is tonight's Gala for Planetary Health. Dame Helen Mirren, Andy Garcia, and Kate Beckinsale are presenting the evening, and Sting is receiving an award for his commitment to preserving the planet and indigenous communities. Enjoy!
